Crusades between 1096 1291: rebirth of trade. The crusades contributed to a rebirth of trade routes. From the 11th century onward, craft guilds contributed to a new vibrant city life: powerful guilds. Today, traditional maypoles are still set up in german towns, showing guild signs. Luebeck: venice: described as one of the world"s most beautiful & romantic cities. Located in a marshy lagoon in the northern adriatic sea (part of the mediterranean)
