One of the most vital skill sets. Not the real thing but help us to try to understand that thing. Simplifying assumptions help to simplify models further. A way of testing the success of a model compared to the real thing. Reproducing populations of organisms with different traits evolve. Natural selection: filter that determines organisms best fit for survival. Selective pressures: determine how fit an organism is to reproduce. Selective advantage: greater fitness to survive in the pressures. Acts on phenotypic variation of a population (how genes are expressed) Tends to say things as if we know it but nothing is hard fact in science. Everything we know is to the best of our understanding. Is experiment disagrees then the explanation is wrong.
