In the film jagten, lucas was shamed by his neighbors and fellow citizens of the town when he was accused of molesting the children at the preschool he worked at. This happened in many different places, such as church, the supermarket, etc. He was thrown out of the preschool by fellow parents who viewed him as a molester due to the false claims of the children. Informal social control is most effective among people with close relationships, and having said that. Theo"s daughter was the one to make the first claim, theo"s relationship with lucas was strained and allowed informal social control to take place at first. Formal social control involves reactions from specialized agencies, including the police. We viewed this take place when lucas was arrested and arraigned in court. The police served as agents of social control as well as the judge and prosecutor on lucas" case.
