Brahman- the absolute truth, it is the whole. Atman- refers to the individual truth; the self within. Samsara- the cycle of birth and death. Samskara- everything that is done that becomes a memory. Karma- actions that create a seed that will later bear fruit. Sa atma, tat tvam asi- that is the self. Father is talking to the son about how everything in the world is brahman and gives a bunch of examples/analogies but at the end he says, that is how you are. Prakriti- the world that can be encountered through the senses. Gunas: sattva- lucidity, enlightenment, tranquility, buoyancy, illuminating. A sense of upward motion like the blazing up of fire and the upward motion o f air: rajas- movement, action, creativity, attachment, ambition, greed. The nature of all painful experiences due to its nature of movement: tamas- stillness lethargy, laziness, procrastination, heavy. Produces ignorance and darkness due it inability to move; produces state of apathy or indifference.
