Adjuvants- a substance that enhances the body"s immune response to an antigen. Aflatoxins- any of a class of toxic compounds that are produced by certain molds found in food, and can cause liver damage and cancer. Antagonism- administration of a compound creates less or no response combined with another. They are used therapeutically in the treatment of helminthiasis in man and animal. Anthropogenic- (chiefly of environmental pollution and pollutants) originating in human activity. Calcitonin- a peptide hormone that lowers calcium concentration in the blood. In humans, it is released by thyroid cells and acts to decrease the formation and absorptive activity of osteoclasts. Its role in regulating plasma calcium is much greater in children and in certain disease than in normal adults. Carcinoma- a malignant neoplasm made up of epithelial cells tending to infiltrate the surrounding tissues and give rise to metastases. Cardiomyopathy- a group of diseases in which the dominant feature is the involvement of the cardiac muscle itself.
