-know the different theorists that are associated with each theory; particularly the theorists we mentioned in class (not so much in the book although the information is in the book as well). -know the basic tenets of each theory including how they each view human problems, how the therapist is to engage with the client, how progress occurs, and what a positive outcome would look for clients in that theory. It pictured as a pie chart in the article. Someone with job, family, etc. will do a lot better in therapy than someone without those things. -know how to set up a basic therapeutic relationship such as what qualities of a therapist are important across all theories. -know what overgeneralization, personalization, and dichotomous thinking is. -know how you would address or wouldn"t address a client who is a different race or culture as you are if you were the therapist. -know what therapist having agape for clients means.
