All color systems are theoretical and abstract ways of understanding color and communicating colors to others. Munsell color system: hue- the specific color (basic name) and position on the spectrum. The color wheel: darker value towards the bottom & lighter value at top (tint- white > shade- black, the munsell color system is perhaps the most common used today. Established in the late 19th century, it has become a standard in design education. Simply because it is a standard does not mean that one should accept it as the only color system, nor the true color system. It is just a theory: inside this system, every possible color can be described by the three attributes of hue, chroma, and value, creating a color with paint: a pure hue is the pigmented pure paint. To change value, add white or black paint.
