People who don"t vote are free riding off of the: voting doesn"t really tell them what exactly the people stand for. So people may not agree with everything the candidate wants to do, so voting conveys very limited information. In america we have a huge free rider problem. Political socialization: process of learning political attitudes and behavior, helps explain how or if people will participate in politics. Influencing factors: parents and schools, social characteristics, religion and ethnic background. Class and voting: class is important in shaping peoples political opinions and behaviors, social class: groups occupations. Working class: blue-collar and white- collar jobs, receives lowest incomes out of the three classes, wants economic equality and social welfare programs. Middle class: consists of teachers engineers business people, middle income.
