Tiglathpileser was in turn given great weapons to fight and conquer with. This tells us that he could"ve very easily exaggerated some, if not all, of this story to inflate his ego and prove that he is a very powerful leader. The very first paragraph is about all of his titles, praising himself: we learn that in the assyrian society a ruler"s success/popularity is related to how much conquering/expanding they achieve. This is why he goes in detail to how many armies and kings he killed to grow the empire. We can also tell that their gods are a big part of their culture. A mesopotamian creation myth: level 1, this document was written by an unknown source but the person who wrote it must have been high in the society because only high class people knew how to write. The earthly world already existed, but only gods inhabited it. Now life sprung from her cut open belly and organs.
