Alps into italy: surprises the romans, very successful, didn"t come directly into rome, not very successful in trying to get new allies in italy, macedonia became an ally of hannibal, came with elephants. Scipio africanus: launches an attack on north africa just outside of carthage, hannibal is forced to leave italy to protect. Happens because of political issues at home. Romans decide to launch another war, but is really just a roman invasion against a defenseless city. Roman army was ordered to destroy carthage. Not the roman way to just destroy a city of civilians.
