Direction setting is still important in todays" leadership society because although leadership is becoming increasingly more shared and empower-oriented, having a clear goal destination and concrete instructions on how to get there is still necessary. Empowerment is about giving them the necessary tools to complete the task at hand with some form of independence. As a teacher, you automatically assume a leadership role that is even more magnified when you have a hands-on approach. I think he shows participative leadership by the way he jokes with his employees and is very involved with everyone in the office when dealing with the tasks at hand. In his role in the office, he is very consultative in the way he asks his employees for suggestions and advice when making a decision, yet he ultimately has the final say. This leadership style matches perfectly with the television show because it is very satirical and highlights the lack of work that actually gets done.
