If domestic policy dictates reliance on corn and other starch based crops, we may have to switch feeding/finishing styles. Indians and colonists used them certain purposes, such as for work; no pure breeds. Cats were mostly used to hunt rodents; became easier pets in 1945 when cat litter was available. Rabbits, white mice, guinea pigs were considered children"s pets. Companion animal-animal to which the owner has an intense emotional tie/bond to.
