AAAS 2000 : Poems On Final
Document Summary
Snow falling and night falling fast, oh, fast. In a field i looked into going past, And the ground almost covered smooth in snow, But a few weeds and stubble showing last. The woods around it have it--it is theirs. Will be more lonely ere it will be less-- They cannot scare me with their empty spaces. Between stars--on stars where no human race is. I have it in me so much nearer home. To scare myself with my own desert places. In sixth grade mrs. walker slapped the back of my head and made me stand in the corner for not knowing the difference between persimmon and precision. How to eat: put the knife away, lay down newspaper. Peel the skin tenderly, not to tear the meat. Now, eat the meat of the fruit, so sweet, all of it, to the heart. In the yard, dewy and shivering with crickets, we lie naked, face-up, face-down.
