Cross-sectional design: observing groups of subjects of varying ages @ 1 time. Longitudinal design: observing subjects of same age @ varying times thru lifespan. Sequential: both previous; more than one group, studied over period of time. : same for all; maturation is a sequence. : varies across people; environment or genetic factors effect timing. Range of reaction: range of possible phenotypes from one genotype depend both. Develops gradually from birth 6 yrs. of age ability to discriminate small details.
