Document Summary

My working definition of the keyword justice is two-pronged. First, justice is the idea of equality, the treatment of all people in a fair manner, regardless of their nationality, race, ethnicity and socioeconomic class. Justice should not be disfigured at the influence of wealth, power or beliefs of an individual, but based upon concrete facts, events and statistics. Secondly, justice should be restorative, rehabilitative, instead of punitive. Justice should not be employed as the justification for caging up people and isolating them from their communities, both during imprisonment and after in parole or probation systems. Justice should be mean that recidivism is so high that someone is convicted is so hindered from reintegrating into society that they have almost no chance of escaping the prison industrial complex. Justice that is restorative promotes healthy communities and works toward the goal to eliminating the pic altogether. John rawls" idea of justice departs from as the same time it converges with my definition.
