Slavery- the most extre me for m o f legalized social inequality for individuals or groups. Castes- hereditary systems of rank, usually religiously dictated, that tend to be fixed and i mmobile. Estates- also known as feudalism, required peasants to work land leased to them by nobles in exchange for military protection and othe r services. Social classes- class systems is a social ranking based primarily on economic position in which achieved characteristics can influence social mobility. Birth determines your social position in 4 ways. I mprecisely defined one can move fro m one stratum or level o f society to another (unlike t he other three stratification systems) Are also marked by unequal distribution of wealth and power.
