298 views2 pages

Document Summary

Aggression is defined as a behaviour is intended to harm someone else intentionally. There several types of aggression which include: physical, verbal (hurting someone through your words), emotional, financial and indirect. Stereotype: males are more physical aggressive then females. Females and males are more similar in some less physical kinds of aggression. In lecture we were introduced to several studies that included studying sex hormones on monkeys that were not ethically correct as they associated play with aggression in males. However, our textbook gives us a neat distinction b/w men and women by viewing the differences through social construction point of view. Social constructionists: argue that when we look at the world, we look at it through cultural lenses that embodies stereotypes and social roles. Since men in a social category are known to be more physical strenuous and bigger size, it is easy for us to associate them with physical aggression.
