Picketty"s argument: according to pickety, the factor that reduces income inequality is investment in training and skills (beter training and skills = beter income). Income inequality in the us was at its lowest point during the post war boom (1950s and 1960s) because more taxaion to fund war and much more building of social welfare state. Pickety"s formula explained: r > g (return on capital > rate of growth). Rate of growth: rate of growth of the economy. Thus, rich people always has a voice in the democraic process. Gender: sex is biological and cannot be changed (male or female). Gender is socially constructed, and can be changed because it is not binary. Gender challenges the idea that you have to be one or another, not everyone is biologically male or female. Patriarchy: historically, it is the power of men over women on social context.
