The interdisciplinary study of the early period of the human life-course that is legally recognised and socially (as well as, in part, scientifically) defined as childhood, as distinct from adulthood (kc 18) Childhood studies is very new in academic context. In the us, legal age is 21, and they are the only ones who haven"t signed the unc. When you turn 18, you are allowed to vote, When you turn 16, you are allowed to drive, You are not allowed to drink when you are 18. 1. to understand the key concepts, methodologies, theoretical approaches to this growing interdisciplinary, rights-based, and child- and youth-centered field of children, childhood & 2. to cultivate a more developed sense of the global field of children, childhood & youth. 3. to understand and appreciate key debates relevant to the history of this emerging field of study, including both representations and lived experiences of children and youth.
