Systematics: the study of morphological & biochemical resemblances between species: used as basis for inferring evolutionary relationships, molecular systematics: use of nucleotide sequences from dna/rna, or amino acid sequences from proteins, to infer evolutionary relationships. Allows comparisons between organisms that are physically very different from each other.
