Jack wilson (~1890) had a vision in which god took him up to heaven and showed him a vision of a new possible heaven where his ancestors were happy and white people were absent. Wilson, which is a ritual creating a new world with all the goodness. He later changed his name to wovoka, and thought of himself as a prophet. He taught the ghost dance to native american people, promised them that if they practiced this ritual, god would help them get rid of white people who occupied their lands and forced them to unlearn their traditional culture. Ghost dance: a ritual in which people dance around a circle in about 5 days, taught by jack wilson to native american people. This ritual was believed, if performed properly, to transform the real world into a dream world where native americans" ancestors were living and white people were absent.
