Document Summary

In both videos the social psychologists discuss the topic of social intervention as more than just theories- providing statistical research in addition to presenting their tested methods of intervention. In amy cuddy"s ted talk she analyzes the correlation between our emotions and actions. She identifies the hormones most closely related to feelings of dominance and stress: testosterone and cortisol; furthermore explaining how high and low levels of each have an explicit impact in how we perceive ourselves and others. Research showed that individuals high in testosterone and low in cortisol displayed universal gestures of power and achievement which were believed to play a role in their success. Contrarily, those with low levels of dominance and high levels of stress displayed identical gestures of weakness and uncertainty. By explaining the difference between high power poses" and low power poses" we come to understand how one can transform their attitude by simply adjusting their stance or posture.
