Document Summary
The development of emotional face processing during childhood effect of the emotion expressed by faces was seen on the p1 in the youngest children. With increasing age this effect disappeared while an emotional sensitivity emerged on n170. P1 face-sensitivity is driven by low-level visual cues while the n170 face-sensitivity reflects the perception of a face. P1: global, rapid emotion recognition, amplitude and latency decreases with age, amplitude decrease suggests a continuous automatization of the visual processing and a decrease in cortical activation. Face processing gets faster and automatic with age. Syntax: grammatical rules that dictate how words can be combined. Pragmatics: rules for using language effectively within a social context. Generativity: using finite sets of words in our vocabulary with which we can generate an infinite number of sentences. Prosody: characteristic rhythm, tempo, melody or pattern with which a language is spoken. Phonemes: smallest sound unit that changes the meaning of a word.
