CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT 2015
This crucial Act, which came into force on 1 October 2015, consolidated and simplified
the previous legislation on consumer rights (which was criticized for being excessively
complex) and also gave consumers a number of new rights and remedies.
The provisions regarding exemption clauses only apply to contracts between traders
(businesses) and consumers (s.61(1)). They do not apply to employment contracts or
apprenticeships (s.61(2)).
