Coup injury to frontal lobe is less severe than a contrecoup injury on frontal lobe (falling on back is worse) Nasal passages (face structure) act as airbags to lessen impact. Men"s football has highest incidence of concussion rate, second is women"s soccer. Could be because football teams carry so many athletes. Frequency of concussion was associated with game match time and practice. Centre for control disease estimated 50,000-300,000 sport related concussions per year - now there are 2-5 million per year.
