Npte: all animals today are derived from the single animal that evovled during low o2 conditions. Note: all life that subsequently evovled on the planet is monophyletic and share some genetic history with that common ancestor. More feasible oxygen uptake is in the air - highest metabolic rates are foudn in air breathers.
