Behavior is observable action that can be detected without the use of instruments. If u poke someone"s knee just right, they will have a knee jerk reaction that is not controllable. By this definition: thinking is not a behavior (however it does more often act as the precursor to behavior: cognition is mental activity that can be measured by behavior. Momentary change in behavior means there has been chemical changes in the brain. Long lasting change in the brain means that there has been long last change in the brain structural changes. Remember that the brain here does not simply mean the organ, but the entire cns (spinal cord) Produce behavior using muscles and glands at the appropriate moment in time while taking into account: Learned contingencies learned rules and laws of the surrounding environment (operant conditioning) Neuroplasticity: the brain is plastic; connections between neurons change as a result of experience.
