Evidence based, unbiased and logical in depth analysis. Use certain criteria (standards) to make judgement (+ve/-ve) of the above parameters. Causal links can be established results not vulnerable to residual confounds (after you"ve already corrected for confounds, some still left over) Study of short duration: can"t produce realistic results. Intermediate markers of diseases generally assessed (can"t really look at a disease outcome, must make inferences that make estimates about long term disease) Measures effects of diets that may/may not be easy to replicate in real world (e. g. : this study was interesting, but will it ever apply in rl?) Disease outcomes are generally assessed (can specifically say what effect does this diet have on this disease) Studies can last several years (easy to do & can assemble powerful database of abundant info)
