Define, explain the significance of and give an example from. New urbanism is an urban design movement which promotes walkable neighborhoods containing a range of housing and job types. A response to changes already underway in urban landscape, because most cities do not just get designed brand new and from scratch a city is built upon. Less utopian than the other three planning movements (urban utopia, contemporary. City, broadacre city) which are all based on the idea that the city needs to start brand new. Design is central and human scale, it is easily accessible in terms of daily needs, employment and transportation which attempts to bring back a sense of community. Returning urban form to mixed use, increase diversity, density and conservation. Ideal is that is it very accessible - transportation, employment, daily needs of an individual. Front porch - eyes on the street - interaction that doesn"t happen in a high-rise building.
