Physical environments - factors affecting food production such as soil, climate, water, etc. Social environment - societies, regions, communities, etc. (farms) Social organization - institutions that relate to production and distribution. Ex. who consumes first, children and men in early days. Technology - range of tools used for production. Culture - ideas and concept related to food. Global forces - global problem impinging on local populations such as global warming or food commodities. Formative research - get general sense of nutritional problem in populations.
