When you make a statement that someone else relies upon believe it to be true to their detriment, the person who gave the statement has a responsibility to that statement. Can be used as a shield or defence. Cannot start a suit of equitable estoppel but can use it as a defence. You can in fact use it as a sword to sue somebody who gave unreliable information even when consideration is not present. If you request for a service there is an implicit understanding that you will have to pay for that service even if you don"t discuss the price. You have to pay fair market value for the value of the services. As an adult you must be of sound mind and have mental capacity to enter into a contract. Kid ending a contract: property is still own the property, child is committing the tort of trespass to property, can also sue under the law of restitution.
