Hesi case 5: mr. miguel prieto lung cancer. Reports that he has been experiencing a frequent, nagging cough. Never smoked cigarettes, denies any pain or dyspnea. Shows a suspicious spot on the left lung. Scheduled for a lung biopsy via fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Assess fo(cid:396) (cid:396)etu(cid:396)(cid:374) of the patie(cid:374)t"s gag (cid:396)efle(cid:454) Patient should remain npo until the gag reflex has returned. Before the procedure, the patient will be given an anesthetic, both to gargle and through an aerosol mask. Biopsy results to numb the back of the throat. Mr. prieto has adenocarcinoma of the lung a form of non-small cell lung cancer, the most common type of lung cancer. Abnormal lung cells multiply out of control and form a tumor. Eventually, tumor cells can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body including the: lymph nodes around and between the lungs liver.
