Explain the importance of distribuion and the interrelaionships among distribuion channels, supply chain management and logisics management. Companies cannot take the distribuion of products for granted. Appropriate distribuion channels must be ideniied and channel members need to be convinced to carry these new products, both of which are integral to a successful distribuion strategy. A distribuion channel is the set of insituions and markeing aciviies that transfer ownership of and move goods from the manufacturer or producer to the consumer. In this sense, the supply chain is considered to be longer and covers more aspects of the distribuion strategy since it extends backwards to include suppliers. Logisics concentrates on the physical movement and control of the products, whereas supply chain management includes the managerial aspects of the processes as well. Idenify how distribuion channels add value to businesses and consumers.
