Level of practical action and social participation- centers on language of verbs/actions/change. Contemplative: we contemplate our surroundings and how we feel about it and decide whether we are content using our emotions. If we think that we do not like things the way they are we then move to the second level of engagement, which is active. In this level, we begin to make changes to our surroundings as emotions and intellect begin to work together. Science begins with world around it using observation and evidence to grasp regularities scientific knowledge can accumulate; can grow, evolve progress, must grasp reality of natural or social world- compelled to remain tied to an enduring, empirical reality.
