Language production = broca"s area -- language broduction. Dominant hemisphere: left, analytic, details, language production and comprehension, logic+math. Nondominant: right, intuition, music cognition, spatial processing, creativity, whole image from stimuli, emotional tone of spoken language. In neurulation, the notochord causes differentiation of the overlying ectoderm into the neural tube and neural crest cells. Neural crest migrate to other sites in the body. The adrenal cortex produces estrogen + testosterone in both males and females. Schizophrenia is associated w/ high levels of dopamine/ high sensitivity to dopamine. Parkinson"s disease = associated w/ destruction of dopaminergic neurons in basal ganglia. What is transduction? conversion of internal + external environment stimuli to electrical signals in the nervous sys. Sensory receptors maybe encode stimuli through its multiple aspects. Ex: photoreceptors respond to light and can encode brightness,colour,shape. Think eyes are superior to ears (in an anatomical sense)
