Explain what intelligence is and how it is measured: Intelligence is ability to think, overcome obstacles, understand and reason. Wechler adult intelligence scale: divides tests up and measures both verbal and performance intelligence to get a more accurate view. Binet-simon scale is used specially for children with developmental disabilities to see assess their scholastic skills (memory, vocabulary etc. ) Standford binet scale measures intelligence in school children. Deviation iq can be used to compare results to others of the same chronological age. Norming compares an individuals results to their peers. Intelligent tests are standardized in which they all have same ideas, testing methods and grading methods. Measure intelligence quotient: mental age: chronological age x 100. Intelligence testing designed for one culture can undermine the intelligence of another because different cultures have different beliefs of what it means to be intelligent. Intelligence testing was once used to support racism, and there are fears that this could happen again.
