Desmosome located in intercalated disk physically holds the structure together during contraction. Muscle belly found in a compartment with other muscles, but does not perform the same kind of action. Demifacet = multiple structures contribute to the facet. Ie. head of rib articulates with both demi facets rib 6 articulates with superior demifacet of vertebrae 6, and inferior demifacet of vertebrae 5.
