Peace studies is a field of research: created after wwii, one of the most pressing humanity"s concern. Building negative peace (peace movements, diplomacy, disarmament, peace-keeping) Building positive peace (human rights, health, environment, gender, economy, international law) We know things but we cannot define them. We know how to read clocks and what hour it is, but it is difficult to grasp a useful definition. Time can go by very slowly for someone, fast for someone else depending on situation and person. We may say the answer to one question, but someone may have a completely different answer that totally counteracts the first answer. The need for metaphors, distinctions and clarifications in order to gain a somewhat-leveled understanding with others: can peace be measured, inner and outer peace, inner peace (not to be focused on) A virtue of human relationships and social institutions. Absence of physical or verbal violence (war, physical harm to others)
