A theory that argues that the media tell people not what to think but what to think about it. Ex: news organization, they have their own agenda(goals) that they try to force onto you. Fox news is very conservative, try to push on their conservative views. A predisposition to respond to an idea, person, or thing favourable or unfavourably. A theory that posits that mass media has direct, powerful effects on their audiences. Ex: people who watch violent movies will become violent. Develops spontaneously , no awareness of underlying logic. Very simple set of biologically-encoded powerful rules that can produce languages. Consent: someone willingly allowing you to do something/tell you something. The emotional tone of a relationship as it is expressed in the messages that the partners send and receive. Doesn"t involve activities, but focuses on how people feel about each other as they carry out the activities. Content: messages that communicate information about the subject being discussed.
