Promoting women"s participation in the extractive industries sector. The document promoting women"s participation in the extractive industries sector, written in 2016 and published through un women, details the gender bias present within extractive industries (ei) in africa. The major focus of the document is to promote the ideas of gender equality that are present within the sustainable. Development goals (sdg) and millennial development goals (mdg) contextually within this one industry to increase the economic and social development of women. Quality and scope of present intervention are lacking, there needs to be an increased focus on: sustainability, scalability and replicability. The document then delineates good practices and gives examples as to how these practices have been integrated by some mining companies, to increase not only community gratification but also increase productivity and revenue for the mining companies. Good practices are defined through: effectiveness, gender sensitivity, attainability, capacity building potential, technical feasibility, replicability, risk assessment and being rights-based.
