Began in 1867 bna act( they changed the name to the constitution act of 1867) Similar to that of the uk( they have no written constitution, it is all norms) Makes it seem like all the power is vested in the queen, the pm is no where in the constitution. Amendment formula, no longer had to advise britain when they wanted to make changes. The bna act was a law of the british parliament, but it was the canadian constitution. You had to tell britain to make the changes for us. Changed the bna act to the constitution act. This is the entrenched part of the constitution. (clarity act/supreme court act) The second part is constitutional convention and norms: The pm appears once in the 1982 constitution but nowhere in 1867. The fact that the queen isn"t actually in charge is convention/norms. Most fundamental to the government system-responsible government: like holding the government accountable/prerogatory powers/ powers of appointment.
