Lecture 2/week 2 personality assessment, measurement and research design. Personality: average or typical behaviour, feelings, thoughts, personality is inside exists inside of you. Another example is a funeral; you are expected to behave a specific way. The situation is dictating the behavior so much that we really don"t know what a person is like as an individual: weak or ambiguous situations, personality has larger influence. How you"re supposed to behave is really unclear. That"s where your real personality really shines because there is nothing dictating how you should behave. We choose the situations that we go into. That is partly due to personality: selection personality impacts the situations we choose to enter. We will make choices due to our personality: evocation (our personality may elicits behavioural responses or impact the situational context, manipulation (we may try to change others, to influence eachother. Keep in mind manipulation is not necessarily negative)
