Journalism is a combination of discipline and curiosity- role to determine truth. Iceberg- we only see tip of a story and rest is below the surface. Hero pig hoax- presented as true by many stations without questioning. Week 3: critical thinking & journalism that made a difference. Critical thinking- the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing and synthesizing. The systematic evaluation or formulation of beliefs or statements by rational standards. Having a healthy skepticism is a good starting point- closely examine what you read and write. Credibility and audience can be damaged by lack of critical thinking- price is gullibility and superficial journalism.
