Document Summary

We have defined motor behaviour as the scientific study of people performing motor skills. As students of motor behaviour, we are interested in our ability to learn to control our movements to produce a desired outcome. We can observe these changes by assessing or looking at our motor performance. There are two main categories of motor performance measures that we can examine: knowledge of results and knowledge of performance. Knowledge of results indicates something about the end result of the movement and knowledge of performance indicates something about the quality of the movement. There are important knowledge of results that the instructor can provide the learner. One of these measures is the amount of error in performing a criterion or target movement. This information is especially important if the goal of the motor skill is to achieve a high degree of accuracy.
