Document Summary

The hpe curriculum and scsa spiral curriculum. The australian hpe curriculum has 2 strands: personal, social, and community health. Communicating and interacting for health and wellbeing. Contributing to healthy and active lifestyles: movement and physical activity. Five interrelated propositions: focus on educative purposes. Provide developmentally appropriate, ongoing and explicit learning opportunities to enable students to develop, practice, refine, evaluate and apply the knowledge, understanding, and skills of hpe: strengths based approach. Focus on developing students" knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to make informed decisions about healthy, safe and active behaviours and nurture strengths to foster better health: value movement. Evidence suggests there are limited opportunities for children to move in school. Valuing movement is underpinned by a range of sociocultural and historical influences not common to all students. Hpe should foster students" appreciation for movement in daily life, active living and more structured physical activity: develop health literacy.
