Make a Cell Project
Overview:
In this assignment you will be creating a model or replica of an animal cell or plant cell. This can be done in many different ways and you are encouraged to be creative. Below you will find a list of what you must do and include in this project as well as a grading rubric for your final submission.
Project:
Your project is to create a model or replica of a plant or animal cell. This can be done using materials that you have at home. Feel free to be creative in how you represent each aspect of the cell. You can use craft materials, candy, food, or any other materials you have access to.
Your model will need to include the cell type you chose and all of its major organelles. Each part of the cell should have a unique visual representation. Your model must include a label for every part of the cell or a separate key that describes how each organelle is represented. You will also describe the purpose or function of each organelle. This can be done on a separate piece of paper and can be written in an essay format or as a list.

Depending on the cell type you choose, you will need to include all of the following organelles:
  •  Cell Wall (Plant cell only)
  •  Cell Membrane
  •  Nucleus (with DNA)
  •  Nuclear Membrane
  •  Endoplasmic Reticulum (smooth and rough)
  •  Ribosomes
  •  Mitochondria
  •  Golgi Body
  •  Lysosomes (Animal cell only)
  •  Vacuoles
  •  Chloroplasts (Plant cell only)
Submission:
You will submit this project as a picture of your model and descriptions of the organelles.
