Overview:
This assignment will review and test your knowledge of the four major biomolecules, You will complete and submit a chart with information about biomolecules including their monomer, polymer, the elements in them, their functions or purpose, and examples.
Background Information:
Biomolecules are molecules found in cells and living organisms. There are four major categories of biomolecules. They are carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins. These molecules are found in all organisms and serve many different functions. They are made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus (CHONP). Every biomolecule contains carbon, but not all biomolecules contain the other elements.

Biomolecules are made of a monomer that comes together with other monomers to create a polymer.
  • Monomer: the individual unit or building block of a biomolecule
  • Polymer: a substance made of many individual monomers that are similar and bonded together
Assignment:
In this assignment you will fill in the information for the chart below. Your chart will need to include each biomolecule and its monomer, polymer, the elements in its molecules, its function or purpose, and examples. For the function/purpose and examples, you only need to include one or two for each biomolecule.
Submission:
You will submit a version of the chart below with all of the needed content. You may draw your, own chart on paper or on the computer to turn in.

This is a sample chart that includes all of the needed categories of information.
