They depict the same subject (a woman having her hair combed) but in very different styles. How would you describe the styles represented by Utamaro, Degas, and Rothenberg? Are there areas where the artists' representations overlap?

The question for our discussion is: What is your assessment of what is currently taking place in American society today -given the recent social turmoil? Is it just racism at play?? Or, is there something much more complex taking place?
