In reviewing the two tables about global consumption we just saw, it seems rather simple to see what the world would have to give up to achieve global access to basic education, health and nutrition. However, our consumer societies and ongoing international conflict do not promote these changes in global spending.

• What factors do you think contribute to the consumer society?

• What evidence of this do you see in your daily lives?

• What changes can (and will) you make (i.e., carpooling, growing your own garden, etc.) to lessen your consumption impact?
