If we see someone doing wrong and report it, we are acting in the interest of our department/company and ourselves. We save our department from higher management and the company from public embarrassment depending on the situation. I know that it would not be easy to be the person telling, some companies have policies that allow this communication to be confidential or anonymous. There may be times that we feel that we can't talk to a manager about the unethical situation because the manager may be involved. But we must still do the ethical thing and tell someone.
How do you think people perceive us in accounting when we make a mistake? Do you think they think we are committing fraud?
